We Are the People Illinois has issued the following press release:
Illinois, September 05, 2021 — An assembly of concerned residents from across Illinois announced today the first results of their efforts to understand the November 2020 election. Through FOIA requests, the group found evidence that three voting systems used in 35 of the election jurisdictions across Illinois were not properly certified prior to the election. These three jurisdictions supported more than 35 election jurisdictions, mostly counties, but some city jurisdictions across the state.
According to election guidelines set by the Statutes and Administrative Code of Illinois, the deadline to certify voting systems for the Nov. 3, 2020 election was May 4, 2020. The three voting systems used in the Nov. 3, 2020 elections that did not meet this deadline include:
● Dominion Voting Systems Democracy Suite WinEDS 4.0/Democracy Suite (WinDI) 5.6-C IL (Used in the Chicago and Cook County 2 election jurisdictions )
● Unisyn Open Elect Voting System 2.1.0.1 (Used in 22 election jurisdictions )
● E S&S EVS Version 5.5.0.2 (Used in 11 election jurisdictions )
“This reveals that the Illinois State Board of Elections failed to protect the voters of Illinois and due process was not followed, which is incredibly concerning to Illinois voters,” says George Weckbacher, spokesperson for the citizen group. “These specific voting systems were approved for use by the Illinois State Board of Elections, however, our verified findings reveal that three of the voting systems used in 34 XX# counties for the 2020 general election failed to meet the mandatory Illinois statute that requires voting system applications be completed six months prior to use.”
Following these findings, citizen complaint affidavits have been sent to every one of 102 county states attorneys in Illinois. These affidavits reveal that either the county vote is subject to review and de-certification where they were used or that a county results were affected by the other counties that used the improperly certified voting systems.
These voting systems were not approved to process the 2020 election and affected election results across every county in Illinois. Additionally, all state-wide elections for U.S. Representatives, U.S. Senator, and U.S. presidential elections were certified as valid results by the election jurisdictions that used these improperly certified voting systems.
“For an election audit in Illinois to proceed, we need Illinois voters to get involved,” says Weckbacher. “We need all of the people of Illinois to demand a response from the attorney generals. I encourage them to call or write their local states attorneys across the state to demand that they correct this. We need to ensure fair and proper elections for the future of our state.”
