Prairie Fire has issued the following press release:

Yesterday the Illinois House of Representatives voted to accept the changes made to the ethics reform bill. The bill will pass on to Gov. Pritzker to be signed into law.

The ethics bill was originally proposed in May of this year. Legislative Inspector General Carol Pope resigned over the bill, stating that it would interfere with her ability to conduct investigations.

State Rep. Chris Miller (R-Oakland) issued the following statement:

“This so-called ‘ethics’ bill is a joke. Not a single person who voted for it wants anything to do with ethics. If you believe that the legislature and the governor’s office actually want to govern themselves, you are fooling yourself.  And if anyone in the media plays along with the narrative this bill means actual ethics reform, they are either totally clueless about politics in Illinois, or they’re part of the problem.”
