Former highway commissioner Gasser: Rabine 'understands the serious effects of oppressive taxation'

Andrew Gasser is convinced Gary Rabine is the right answer for Illinois.

“I don’t know how you fix Illinois, but you know Gary Rabine is a small, independent businessman who truly understands the serious effects of oppressive taxation, like what Pritzker, Madigan and quite frankly some of the Republicans in the Senate have imposed on us,” Gasser said. “He will at least be one person who can actually at least try to stop it and step in the right direction.”

Gasser, a Tea Party activist who formerly served as Algonquin Township Highway Commissioner, said he knows it will still take more hard work to get the state back on the right track.

“I'm not going to be so bold as to say that if we elect Gary Rabine, everything's going to get better,” he said. “But it's a step in the right direction. Gary would need to flip at least one of the bodies. And you and I both know that that's just not going to happen in Illinois, with the gerrymandering of the district maps and everything.”

Rabine, who officially launched his Republican campaign for governor in March, recently took on Gov. J.B. Pritzker over what he sees as his flawed handling of COVID-19.

“Stop bullying Illinois children into getting an experimental vaccine,” he posted on Facebook. “I’m calling on JB Pritzker to immediately issue an executive order banning K-12 school districts, private schools and colleges in Illinois from mandating and requiring students to get a COVID vaccine.”

Rabine argues that the mandates put forth by the governor speak to how out of touch he is with the people he’s supposed to be representing.

“I’m running because I can see my family, my friends’ families and so many others that just want to get out of here,” he recently told IllinoisChannelTV. “It bothers me so bad. I’ve been in business for 40 years, the last 20 building businesses as a leader, understanding what great leadership looks like and it’s not what we see in our governor and our mayor of Chicago. I’m confident we need a leadership mindset that understands how to build leaders and doesn’t rule like royalty.”

A longtime business owner, Rabine has also made job creation and solving tax concerns central elements of his platform.
