Illinois Right to Life issued the following announcement on Dec.7
As most of you know, on October 27 of this year, the Illinois House passed the repeal of the Parental Notice of Abortion Act (PNA), Illinois’s last pro-life law. What hasn’t received a lot of press is the Illinois House Resolution that passed out of committee the very next day.
Illinois House Resolution 491 designates Oct 15, 2021 as “Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day” in our state. This resolution includes the following language:
WHEREAS, Countless parents and families have suffered a miscarriage, a stillbirth, or the death of an infant during delivery or shortly after birth and experience and profound sense of grief as a result; and
WHEREAS, Even the shortest lives are valuable, and the grief of those who mourn the loss of these lives should not be trivialized;
Such a resolution is much-needed in the state of Illinois and was supported by Illinois Right to Life Action. I, myself, have lost five precious children to miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy. The devastation of pregnancy loss, as well as stillbirth, is very real and must be acknowledged.
What was stunning about this resolution was who supported it. Less than 24 hours after leading the charge to repeal the Parental Notice of Abortion Act, Illinois Representatives Anna Moeller and Kelly Cassidy pledged their support for the life-affirming resolution. . Moeller, of course, was the original house sponsor of legislation to repeal PNA. Cassidy made an impassioned speech on the floor of the House urging the repeal of PNA. Cassidy was also the sponsor of the deadly Reproductive Health Act that made Illinois one of the most pro-abortion states in the nation.
The intellectual and moral disconnect of Moeller and Cassidy simply boggles the mind.
Moeller and Cassidy are heroes of abortion advocates in Illinois. They are leaders of an industry that seeks to ignore women’s grief following abortion. They are champions of an industry that brutally kills preborn children and either sells their bodies for medical research or treats them as medical waste. They are proud to be part of a movement that trivializes abortion with vulgarities and sickening displays such as taking abortion pills on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court.
By leading the charge to repeal PNA, Moeller and Cassidy are the women who trampled on parents’ right to be involved in their children’s health care. These are the women who will break the hearts of millions of young girls by putting them at the mercy of the abortion industry. These are the women who are allowing sexual predators to cover their crimes with abortion.
The fact that Reps. Moeller and Cassidy could wipe out Illinois’s last pro-life law one day and then acknowledge that “even the shortest lives are valuable” the very next day—it shows the extremity of the mental gymnastics abortion advocates must perform to advance their futile attempts to defend the indefensible.
While Governor Pritzker has not yet signed the bill repealing PNA, he has “vowed” to do so. He has until January 19, 2022 to sign the bill. If he doesn’t, it will automatically become law.
Illinois deserves better than radical abortion zealots like Rep. Anna Moeller, Rep. Kelly Cassidy, and Governor J.B. Pritzker. They have made our state a haven for the abortion industry with laws that even many who call themselves “pro-choice” consider extreme.
I urge you to partner with Illinois Right to Life and Illinois Right to Life Action in 2022 as we work to end the pro-abortion hypocrisy and extremism in Illinois. Please don’t ever forget: It won’t be easy. It won’t happen overnight. Together, though, we can and we will win Illinois for life!
