Sen. Darren Bailey is set to bring his gubernatorial campaign to Wilmette and Collinsville after completing a two-day bus tour of the state in December 2021.

In a Facebook post this week, he expressed his goals for election, calling for a change from the ideas of current Gov. J.B. Pritzker.

“Friends, we are in a fight for the heart and soul of our state and the Republican Party. It’s evident that the corruption in Springfield isn’t partisan, and we’re all tired of the political elites selling out working families and taxpayers,” Bailey wrote in his post.

The current plan, Bailey said, is to win out the Republican primary and to challenge Republicans who have “sold out” working families and conservative principles in their votes to raise taxes.

“This is the only way  we can reform Springfield and restore Illinois,” Bailey added.

This comes alongside Bailey’s continued efforts to push his campaign forward, calling for support on circulating the petition to put his name on the ballot and officially begin his journey toward governor.

“We have raised money from donors who have indicated they not only want to take on extreme Democrats, but they want to take on RINOs,” Bailey said.

According to the East Central Reporter, in December, Bailey revealed his running mate for this gubernatorial campaign would be former talk show host, Stephanie Trussell. At that time, Bailey was making his rounds across the state with his two-day bus tour and a fundraiser stop in Swansea.

The Collinsville Meet and Greet will take place Feb. 5 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 203 W Main St. The free event will include barbecue, drinks and live music for those who attend.

This Saturday, Jan. 22, the campaign is set to hold a similar event in Wilmette at 340 Ridge Rd.
