Illinois GOP Chairman Don Tracy has thrown the support of the state’s Republican Party behind Ukraine.
“This week we are seeing something many thought we might not see again in our lifetimes. Russia has launched a full scale ground and air assault on another sovereign European nation with the full intention of taking it over and installing a puppet government that answers to Putin. It’s a terrible tragedy and the result of one madman’s delusional dream of reforming the former Soviet Union,” Tracy said.
“I and the Illinois Republican Party stand in solidarity with Ukraine and offer our prayers for its people and the nearly 50,000 Ukrainians who live in Illinois."
In a Washington Post-ABC News poll only one third of Americans approve the job President Joe Biden is doing in Ukraine.
Nearly half of the country, 48 percent believe the country has weakened under Biden’s leadership.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has refused to evacuate against continuing Russian attacks in the nation’s capital of Kyiv.
Zelensky noted in a message broadcast on Ukrainian television that the appearance may be the last time his countrymen saw him alive.
Biden's son has ties to Ukraine. According to The Guardian, Hunter Biden was paid $50,000 a month as a consultant for energy company Burisma. A leak from Biden’s laptop reinforced financial connections between Biden, Ukraine, China and others that have made many suggest the younger Biden register as a foreign agent.
According to the Daily Mail, a former diplomat warned of the connections between the Bidens and Ukraine.
Many have called for a more thorough investigation and transparency with those calls increasing as the crisis deepens.
Illinois’ 5th Congressional District Republican candidate Malgorzata McGonigal said prior to last week’s invasion, “This has been going on for a very, very long time. And from what I heard, Kyiv was already evacuated months ago or started the evacuation a month ago. So it really doesn't look good."
