Illinois ranked 41st in a new WalletHub study that examined the rates at which millions of residents in the 50 states and the District of Columbia quit their jobs during the coronavirus pandemic.
Job openings have surged as the nation began to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the analysis, and businesses have had difficulties finding qualified job applicants.
In turn, with more job opportunities and incentives in the workforce, employees have been quitting their jobs and investigating different careers in what has been called the “Great Resignation,” according to WalletHub. What’s more, the resignation rates vary among the 50 states and Washington, D.C., the report states.
The website ranked the states’ job resignation rates based on two main metrics, the resignation rate in the latest month and the rate for the last year. Illinois’ resignation rate in the former category was 2.4%, while its worker-resignation rate for the past 12 months was 2.79%.
In comparison, Alaska’s resignation rates were 3.5% for the latest month and 3.98% for the past year. Alaska had the highest resignation rates in the nation.
