GOP gubernatorial candidate Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Xenia) is condemning Illinois Planned Parenthood for sending out abortion pills.
Illinois is rapidly becoming the abortion capital not just of the Midwest but of the entire nation, according to Bailey.
“Planned Parenthood in Illinois is now offering mail order abortions as they are distributing abortion pills through the mail,” Bailey said. “There is no question mailing pills will lead to even more abortions. Per the USDA rule, which recently was changed to allow the pills to be mailed to patients in certain states such as Illinois, the pills can only be mailed to in-state patients. Of course, with such little oversight over abortion clinics, it will be difficult to determine where these pills are actually going.
“Illinois is rapidly becoming the abortion capital not just of the Midwest but of the entire nation. It used to be that abortion advocates wanted abortion to be safe, legal and rare, but now with mail-order abortions, safety and scarcity seem to no longer be all that important. It seems the true agenda is to increase the number of abortions. Being known as the abortion capital of the Midwest is a distinction we need to shed. Life is precious and we should as a society celebrate life instead of sanctioning the mailing of pills whose only purpose is to destroy human life.”
Illinois Family Action, Illinois Right to Life, Illinois Federation for Right to Life and Lake County Right to Life have all backed Bailey.
Bailey, a well-known conservative Republican, is pro-life and has stated that families in Illinois are his first focus.
In recent years, Illinois abortion facilities have increased their capacity in anticipation of an influx of patients seeking abortions.
Planned Parenthood has opened a slew of new abortion clinics along the state's border with Republican-controlled states. The organization estimates a five-fold increase in abortions.
As conservative state governments use civil sanctions to restrict abortions, the number of abortions in Illinois has nearly doubled.
Minor unsupervised abortions are expected to become more common in the state, which is quickly becoming a favorite abortion destination.
