Illinois Family Action recently tweeted a comment from former state Rep. Jeanne Ives regarding the voting records of gubernatorial primary candidates Richard Irvin and Jesse Sullivan.

Ives released the same statement on Facebook.

“FACT: Neither Richard Irvin or Jesse Sullivan are qualified for GOP leadership as state central committeemen because neither one of them have voted in the last three Republican primaries. In the Republican primary, elect a Republican.~@JeanneIves,” Illinois Family Action tweeted.

The tweet was in reference to the candidates' voting records. To be eligible for the state’s GOP central committee, candidates must have voted in their party’s favor.

“No individual shall be eligible to serve as a member of the State Central Committee unless the individual has voted in the Republican primary election in each of the three (3) most recent general primary elections held in the State of Illinois as evidenced by the individual having requested a Republican ballot according to the official voting records of the election jurisdiction in which the individual resides,” the by-laws read.

Irvin in particular has been called out for his historic voting record in Democratic primaries by opponent State Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Xenia).

"Richard Irvin is a corrupt and career Democrat afraid of a televised debate with Darren Bailey," Bailey said, South Cook News reported.

Irvin’s absence on the campaign trail led to the questioning of his integrity as a Republican.

Ives is vocal about her support for Bailey, according to Facebook.

Bailey has taken a commanding lead in polling as the gubernatorial primary season is coming to an end on election day on June 28. Polls show 32% of voters responding noted they’ve voted for Bailey versus only 17% for Irvin. Sullivan was the only other candidate with double digits at 11%. Businessman Gary Rabine finished with 6%, former State Sen. Paul Schimpf had 4% and Max Solomon came in with 2%, according to WGLT.
