Awake Illinois is holding an event on Aug. 16 as part of its Common Sense Caravan, discussing the sexualization of children. The caravan will meet at the Lincoln Statue located on 2nd Street in Springfield. It will then march and return to the statue at 3 p.m. for remarks before a planned departure at 4:45 p.m.
“Who is defending children? Join the #CommonSenseCaravan to Springfield on Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. to hear from some fierce advocates,” Awake Illinois posted on Twitter.
Awake Illinois’s posted the announcement in a retweet of a "Libs of Tik Tok" post in which Boston Children’s Hospital was called out for advocating for transgenderism in toddlers.
“Boston Children’s Hospital (@BostonChildrens) says that toddlers can know they are transgender. Some signs are refusing a haircut or playing with the opposite gender toys,” Libs of Tik Tok tweeted.
Advocacy group Stonewall has been criticized for suggesting children as young as two years old should be eligible for gender reassignment.
“Research suggests that children as young as 2 recognize their trans identity," Stonewall tweeted. "Yet, many nurseries and schools teach a binary understanding of pre-assigned gender. LGBTQ-inclusive and affirming education is crucial for the wellbeing of all young people!”
Director of Transgender Trend Stephanie Davies-Arai refuted the claim.
“It’s very revealing of Stonewall’s extreme ideological belief that biological sex is irrelevant, that it’s how you feel that makes you a girl or a boy,” Davies-Arai said. “That is what we’re teaching children. In fact, what they’re doing is advocating for child abuse, by which I mean they are advocating for adults to tell lies to children about the most fundamental reality of their sex.”
Earlier this year, State Farm Insurance cut ties with transgender advocacy project GenderCool after the latter was charged with promoting transgenderism in curriculum materials in schools.
“We support organizations that provide resources for parents to have conversations about gender and identity with their children at home," State Farm said in a news release. "We do not support required curriculum in schools on this topic. As a result, we have made the decision we will no longer be affiliated with the organization. We will continue to explore how we can support our associates, as well as organizations that align with our commitment to diversity and inclusion, including the LGBTQ+ community.”
