Republican candidate for governor of Illinois Darren Bailey invites everyone to show support for Republican Day at the Illinois State Fair.
Bailey encourages people to attend, saying that "people are overworked, over-taxed and ready for change."
"Let’s send a message to J.B. Pritzker that there is strong momentum to make him a one-term governor," Bailey said. "This time of year is a busy one for everyone, but if you are able, I would love to see you at Republican Day at the Illinois State Fair."
The event is open to the first 1,500 registrants only.
“Everyone else over 1,500 will be issued a simple ticket allowing them admission into the Republican Day Rally event but NOT free admission onto the fairgrounds or a free BBQ lunch,” IL GOP said on its website.
The Republican Day happens on the heels of the Democratic Party reeling from unpopular opinion and dwindling support. According to "Inside Elections," if the election were held today, Republicans appear poised to gain seven House seats, enough to take control of the House of Representatives, a so-called "Red Wave," Roll Call reported.
This development also coincides with a recent poll showing that almost 60% of Americans are in disapproval of President Joe Biden's job performance, a historic low of any modern president, and a discouraging sign for his fellow Democrats as the midterm congressional elections approach, according to the New York Post.
The same sentiment is appearing to be also felt in the state of Illinois as the governor's alleged failed policies are being exposed in the open. Bailey, the state senator from Xenia and the November challenger to Pritzker's seat, is appealing to Illinoisans to send a unified message to the governor.
"(We) want a new direction for Illinois. His failed policies are destroying our economy and hurting working families. School supplies cost more money. Gas prices in Illinois are higher than surrounding states," he said.
Election integrity is a top concern for the Illinois GOP as the fall elections approach, according to Don Tracy, the party's chairman earlier this year, Prairie State Wire reported.
