An older man was robbed and assaulted on the CTA Red Line this past weekend. The Chicago Police Department is still investigating the incident, but the video footage that captured the assailants committing the crime has since gone viral on social media.

People Who Play By the Rules PAC’s latest ad uses the footage to criticize the democratic leadership of Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Gov. J.B Pritzker as well as the SAFE-T Act.

The ad, "Oh My God," calls the attack on the CTA Red Line “a non-detainable offense under Pritzker’s purge law” and goes on to ask “How much worse does it have to get?”

The ad shows the footage that shows the violent assault and robbery while periodically cutting to short statements. The ad is available on YouTube and the PBR PAC Facebook page, and will run on statewide media.

The recent attack occurred on Sept. 24 leaving the victim dazed and bleeding from the head after he was struck by a wine bottle. Video footage shows multiple assailants are seen asking the man for his identification and then grabbing an unopened bottle of wine from him. The suspects proceeded to reach into the man’s pocket, steal his money and strike him in the head with the wine bottle as the man attempted to stand up.

According to Chicago Police Department crime statistics for 2022, there have been 6,148 counts of robbery, up 17% from last year, and 4,451 counts of aggravated battery, down 6% from last year.

PBR PAC states that it “exists to support gubernatorial candidates and candidates for local offices, especially school boards, committed to ending the fleecing of people who play by the rules and are gamed by a political system they finance. It is particularly focused on equal protection and accountability under the law.”
