Sen. Darren Bailey explained how honored he is to have the endorsement of the Sheriffs of Illinois PAC.
In a Sept. 29 Facebook post, Bailey announced a new endorsement for his gubernatorial campaign.
"I am honored to have the endorsement of the Sheriffs of Illinois PAC,” said Bailey. ". JB Pritzker’s SAFE- T ACT, and pro crime agenda has endangered the lives of Illinois families, and law enforcement. As Governor, I pledge to always support public safety, and that I will always have the backs of those who pin that badge to their chest every day to keep us safe. #endorsed #illinoissheriff #firepritzker #restoreillinois"
On Sept. 7, Bailey discussed his visit with the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police on his Facebook page. “Yesterday, we stopped by the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police in Springfield to continue the conversation about reforms in the Department of Corrections both at a state and local level,” Bailey said in the Facebook post. “I am so thankful for the number of people who are willing to educate me on their issues in nearly every agency and department so we can truly #restoreillinois #standingwithyouin2022”
On Sept. 6, he told 25 News Now that he would repeal the SAFE-T Act if elected. “JB The Enabler in Chief Pritzker has handcuffed law enforcement and let violent criminals run free,” Bailey said. “People are afraid. They’re concerned. They’re worried. My message will be, hold your elected official accountable. Make sure they’re doing their job. Make sure they are listening to you. Because the people I’m talking to, are fed up and they’re tired.”
He recently started a bus tour between Sept. 19 and 22 to get out and talk to voters.
Bailey recently moved into a Chicago apartment in the Hancock building on the Magnificent Mile, according to ABC 7. "I want to immerse myself in the culture. You can't deny there's problems here. And if we keep denying there's problems the problems are going to get worse. All this whole entire journey I have immersed myself in the culture of Illinois that I know nothing about," Bailey said.
