The Illinois Freedom Caucus is asking Illinoisans what the group’s top priorities should be in the 103rd General Assembly.

The group listed eight priorities which include education freedom, health rights, election integrity, exposing corruption, fighting the "woke" agenda in schools, opposing wasteful spending, preserving energy, and protecting the 2nd Amendment.

“Remember to Vote in the Illinois Freedom Caucus Legislative Priorities Poll!” the Illinois Freedom Caucus posted on Facebook. “As we kick off the 103rd General Assembly Legislative Session, we want to hear from you! The Illinois Freedom Caucus supports a legislative agenda with several areas of focus pertaining to Illinois Government. Click the link below to cast your vote!”

“We’re marching into session strong, but we want your input on what our top legislative priorities should be. Let your voice be heard and counted!” the poll’s webpage reads. “What are your top legislative priorities for 2023?”

The Illinois Freedom Caucus is comprised of Republican state Reps. Brad Halbrook, Blaine Wilhour, Adam Niemerg, Dan Caulkins and Chris Miller. It is part of the broader State Freedom Caucus Network. “We need patriots who will serve in our state capitals to fight federal overreach and stand firm against those — in both parties — who prioritize seizing political power over representing constituents,” the group’s website reads.

Miller’s wife – U.S. Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) – is the only member of the Illinois GOP delegation who voted against U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). The Illinois Freedom Caucus praised the 20 GOP holdouts who demanded concessions in order to vote for McCarthy.

The group recently held a press conference to tackle the increasing cost of energy for Illinois consumers. “Business owners, residential customers are paying more for energy and the trend is for these costs to keep increasing,” Rep. Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City) said in a press release. “What is driving these price hikes is the unwillingness of the Democrat majority to take an all above approach toward meeting our current and future energy needs."
