President Joe Biden (D) today signed into law H.J.Res. 7, which "terminates the national emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic."
The resolution was co-sponsored by Illinois U.S. Reps. Mary Miller (R) and Mike Bost (R). Sen. Dick Durbin (D) voted for the resolution.
It passed the U.S. Senate on March 29, 2023 on a vote of 68-23. It passed the U.S. House on February 1, 2023 on a vote of 229-197.
U.S. Rep. Jesús G. "Chuy" García, who lost in his 2023 bid for Chicago Mayor, did not vote on the resolution. U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D) voted against the resolution, as did every other Illinois Democrat U.S. Rep.
