The top 100 political contributions made during the week ending April 1 can be found in the table below, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE).
Donations made to political groups or candidates must be disclosed under state law for greater transparency in elections.
Individuals can donate up to $5,400 to a candidate for office, whereas corporations and unions can give up to a maximum of $10,800.
Across the U.S., donors contributed more than $18 billion during the two-year 2020 election cycle, with hundreds of millions more in 2021.
