School District 189 Students Receive Racial Harmony Awards

Congratulations to the students recognized as 2024 Racial Harmony Awardees. These students will be publicly recognized at the Annual Racial Harmony Student Awards Ceremony on February 25, 2024 for promoting good will in their school community. Student awardees include:

Flyers Football Coach Inducted into Illinois Hall of Fame

Darren Sunkett is among the very prestigious class of coaches that will be inducted in the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame Class of 2024. The coaches will be honored at a luncheon at the I Hotel and Conference Center in Champaign on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Darren Sunkett has coached the East St. Louis Flyers Football Team for 23 years, winning 11 state championships. Coach Sunketts 211 wins are the most in the history of our football program and his tenure is the longest.

Celebrating Athlete Alumnus

Congrats to East St. Louis Senior High School alumnus Smiley Bradford. As a student athlete, he is committed to excellence in the classroom and on the field. He was named Purdue Student of the Week on January 25, 2024 and plays football for the Boilermakers.
