The annual State and University Employees Combined Appeal (SECA) campaign has commenced, announced Comptroller Susana Mendoza. The theme for this year is "Do Good, Feel Good," emphasizing the positive impact of charitable giving. SECA includes over 1,600 local, state, and national charities. This year, Mr. T serves as the Honorary Chair.

Comptroller Mendoza stated, “Through SECA, we can all do good and feel even better by donating to causes including cancer research, homeless prevention programs, and support for animal shelters, food banks, after-school programs and so much more.” She emphasized that no donation is too small to make a difference.

State employees have options to contribute via paycheck deductions or one-time gifts during the campaign. SECA "Ambassadors" at various agencies and universities will organize fundraising events like golf outings and bake sales.

Mr. T encouraged participation by saying, “These donations may mean a child has something to eat, a sexual assault survivor has access to support services and adults and children with disabilities can go to camp.”

The SECA workplace giving campaign was established in 1983 and is managed by the Illinois Office of Comptroller (IOC), with Comptroller Mendoza serving as Director and Statutory Chair. To date, state employees have donated over $84 million through this initiative.
