The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has released a series of public service announcements for radio stations across Illinois to commemorate Heart Health Month in February. These announcements aim to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease and provide information on reducing associated risks.

Dr. Sameer Vohra, the director of IDPH, features in these radio messages, which come in two 30-second versions and one 15-second version. Additionally, there is a separate version of the 15-second announcement that includes an extra 15 seconds of music bed. This allows local stations to insert their own tagline, potentially promoting services offered by their local health departments.

These audio clips are accessible at: https://cms.illinois.gov/agency/media/radio/psa.html.

February 2024 marks the 60th anniversary since President Lyndon Johnson first declared Heart Health Month in 1964. This month is dedicated annually to promoting heart health awareness and encouraging individuals to seek regular medical checkups and adopt healthier lifestyle choices to prevent heart disease.
