The Illinois State Fair has announced that Alanis Morissette, a seven-time Grammy Award-winning artist, will headline the grandstand on Sunday, August 13. Morissette has been a significant figure in contemporary music since 1995, with her expressive style earning her numerous accolades including 14 Canadian Juno Awards and sales of over 75 million albums worldwide.
Her debut album "Jagged Little Pill" was followed by nine more critically acclaimed albums. The musical adaptation of "Jagged Little Pill" debuted on Broadway in December 2019 and was nominated for 15 Tony Awards, winning two. In 2021, her tour celebrating the album's 25th anniversary became the top female-fronted tour globally.
Rebecca Clark, Illinois State Manager, expressed enthusiasm about Morissette's upcoming performance: "We are excited to welcome Alanis Morissette to the Illinois State Fair for the first time," she said. Clark highlighted the enduring impact of "Jagged Little Pill," noting its continued presence on radio playlists.
Beyond music, Morissette is known for her advocacy in female empowerment and wellness. She received the Global Tolerance Award from Friends of the United Nations in 2001 for promoting tolerance through art.
Tickets for Morissette's performance go on sale Friday, May 26 at Ticketmaster. The fair will also feature performances by Old Dominion, REO Speedwagon, Alter Bridge with Mammoth WVH, Tim McGraw with Landon Parker, Maren Morris, and Nelly with Ashanti & Ja Rule throughout its run from August 10-20 in Springfield.
