The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is actively engaging with the public at the 2023 Illinois State Fair. Representatives from ten divisions are present to provide information about their programs and services. The DCFS tent, located on Central Avenue, offers visitors insights into becoming foster or adoptive parents, opportunities to speak with agency recruiters, and applications for joining the DCFS team.

In addition to recruitment efforts, DCFS provides details on various safety programs, including distributing free gun locks to promote child safety. Activities for children include games and prizes, as well as career-themed cutouts allowing them to envision their future roles.

To support foster and adoptive families attending the fair, DCFS offers discounted parking, admission, concession, and carnival ride coupons. "The Illinois State Fair is a wonderful opportunity for families to come together and experience a day of fun while learning about all the great things our agency and the great state of Illinois has to offer," said Illinois DCFS Director Marc D. Smith. He added that Gov. Pritzker's theme emphasizes that "Illinois means something different to everyone," highlighting diverse aspects such as livestock, farming, conservation efforts, and auto racing.

The fair runs from August 10-20 in Springfield. For more information about Illinois DCFS services or employment opportunities, visit dcfs.illinois.gov.
