Conservation Cropping Seminar offers virtual attendance for Illinois farmers

The annual Conservation Cropping Seminar will be held on January 31, 2024, with the option for Illinois farmers to attend virtually for a $15 registration fee. The seminar will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., offering soil and water Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

The event will focus on improving soil health, cover crops, adopting new technologies, enhancing root health, nutrient management, and the latest agronomic research. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session with an Illinois farmer panel and access various resources.

Speakers at this year's seminar include Greg Thoren-Stockton discussing alternative farming methods; Dr. Lars Dyrud of Earth Optics on digital agriculture advancements; Marion Calmer from Calmer Corn Heads addressing stratification challenges; and Chris Perkins of Banded Ag, LLC exploring banded systems management.

The seminar is organized with support from several entities including the Illinois Department of Agriculture, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service, Champaign County Soil and Water Conservation District, Doug Hanson, Randy McElroy, and local Soil and Water Conservation Districts.

Farmers interested in attending should register by January 24 at ccswcd.com/conservation-cropping-seminars.
