James H. Taylor Jr., Owner of Taylor Publications and Dedicated Civic Leader, Passes Away at 76

James H. Taylor Jr. | Clancy Gernon Funeral Homes - Bourbonnais

James H. Taylor Jr., 76, of Bourbonnais, IL, died at his home on November 9, 2024. Born in Chicago on April 29, 1948, to James H. Sr. and Geneva Taylor, he is survived by his wife, Marva J. Shipman Taylor. Taylor was the owner of Taylor Publications and City News, a venture established in 1972 that is still in circulation. Active in various journalist’s organizations and political circles, Taylor maintained relationships with notable figures, such as Bill O'Reilly and worked with former President Barack Obama. He also served as a child abuse and neglect investigator in Kankakee County for 27 years. A member of the College Church of the Nazarene, Taylor had diverse interests, including collecting cars and motorcycles. He is survived by his wife, stepchildren, sons, grandchildren, sisters, and brothers. Predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law, Tommy Thomas. A visitation will be held at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais on Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 2-5pm, to honor James H. Taylor Jr.'s life.
