William J. Ryan III, 83, Remembered for Love of Family and Golf

William J. Ryan III | Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home

William J. Ryan III, 83, of Manhattan, IL, formerly of Oak Forest, IL, and a U.S. Army Veteran, passed away. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Barbara J. Ryan (nee Huck) and devoted father of Kathy Holland and Amanda Roesner. William was the proud Poppi of Madison, Mackenzie, Dylan, Amber, Caitlin, and John Jr., and loving great-poppi of Presley, Maevry, Breken, Lyla, and Walter. He was the dear son of the late William Jr. and Mildred Ryan and cherished brother of Patricia Tumpane, the late Walter Tumpane, late Dennis Kiley, Daniel Ryan, Marilyn Polich, and James Ryan. William was a dear uncle, great-uncle, and friend to many, known for his love of golf and Notre Dame football, and his dedication to attending family events.

Retired after 45 years from Jewel Food Stores, William will be remembered for his passion for golf and his unwavering support for his family.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-6 p.m. The funeral will take place on Monday at 8:45 a.m. at Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael Church, followed by interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Lightways Hospice or Veterans Administration are appreciated. Memories and condolences can be shared on William's Tribute Wall on the Sheehy Funeral Home website. To honor William, flowers can be sent to the family or a tree planted in his memory through the floral store.
