The Illinois Pollution Control Board is considering adopting California's vehicle emissions standards, including Advanced Clean Cars II, Advanced Clean Trucks, and the Low NOx Heavy-Duty Omnibus Regulation. Hearings are set for March 10-12, 2025, with public comment opportunities on March 10 in person and March 11 online.

If implemented, the new rules would phase out sales of gasoline and diesel vehicles by 2035, with some exceptions. This includes a complete ban on non-electric passenger cars and light-duty trucks. Additionally, medium- and heavy-duty truck sales would see significant shifts towards electric vehicles. By 2035, 55% of Class 2b-3 new truck sales must be electric, along with 75% of Class 4-8 straight trucks and 40% of new truck tractors.

To address these potential changes, NFIB and the Mid-West Trucking Association will host a free virtual event on February 13 from noon to 12:30 pm. The event aims to inform small business owners about the proposed regulations and how they can express their opinions.

For questions or registration issues regarding the event, contact Grassroots Manager Liz Roe at liz.roe@nfib.org.
