Prairie State Wire

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Illinois State Board of Elections on February 6, 2025. The request, made by Prairie State Wire, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, seeks information about the candidates running in the upcoming spring elections.

In our pursuit of transparency and accountability in public institutions, we requested specific details about each candidate. These details include their first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; the jurisdiction of that office; and their party affiliation.

In addition to these details, we also asked for all contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address. We believe that this information is essential for providing comprehensive coverage of the elections and ensuring that our readers have access to accurate information about each candidate.

As a media organization committed to serving the public interest, we have requested a fee waiver for this FOIA request. We believe that our role in disseminating information qualifies us for such a waiver.
