Theresa "Terry" Malysa, 1942-2025: Remembering a Life of Resilience and Love

Theresa "Terry" Malysa, of Palos Heights, Illinois, passed away on January 15, 2025. She is survived by her sons John (Susan) Malysa and William Malysa, and her granddaughters Ella, Ava, and Julia. She was preceded in death by her partner of over 40 years, J. Rex Bendigkeit, and her brother Michael "Mike" Murray.

Born Theresa Catherine Murray in Manhattan, New York, Terry lived a remarkable life marked by resilience and love. She navigated a peripatetic childhood, moving between war-torn France and New York City before settling in Villefranche-sur-Mer in the French Riviera. Despite early challenges, Terry pursued education and attended the University of Miami, graduating from the business school. She later became a lawyer, founding her family law practice in the southwest suburbs of Chicago.

Terry was a versatile athlete, excelling in tennis, biking, and cross-country skiing. She found joy in golf and was an active member of Crystal Tree Country Club, where she participated in local competitions and cherished the camaraderie of the golf team. Known for her boundless energy, love of travel, and passion for reading, Terry will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, friend, and dedicated professional.

Her vibrant spirit, unwavering love, and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Terry's legacy of strength, generosity, and devotion to family and friends will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.
