Roger C. Lefers | Smits Deyoung-Vroegh Chapel - South Holland

Roger C. Lefers, age 79, of Olympia Fields, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Born on May 5, 1945, in Chester, South Dakota, to Edmund and Florence Lefers, Roger was the third of six children.

Roger was a devoted husband to his late wife, Donna, and loving father to Bria Miller, Coty Terry and her husband Joshua Terry, Asia Miller, and Madison Miller. He was a proud grandfather of Bella and Carter Massey and a kind uncle of several nieces and nephews.

A distinguished career saw Roger's service through various organizations and initiatives, including Pullman Christian Reformed Church, Roseland Christian School, the Self-Help Jobs Program, Roseland Homes Commission, and Jackson Park Hospital. His commitment to service and racial reconciliation shone through his roles at these institutions, showcasing his passion for helping others and building a better community.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 5:00—8:00 p.m. at Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home in South Holland, IL. A wake will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. directly at Pullman Christian Reformed Church in Chicago, IL, officiated by Pastor Gary K. Foster. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Lansing, IL.

Roger is survived by his siblings, sisters-in-law, companion Velma Kellup, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
