Sieglinda “Inga” Shaults, age 84, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. She was born on April 13, 1940, in Pirmasens, Germany, to Adolf and Elisabeth (Basserman) Muller. As one of eight children, she spent her formative years in war-torn Germany during and after WWII.

Inga immigrated to America and had her first child in 1959. Raising her family in Hickory Hills, Illinois, she enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and was an active member of her church community.

Known for her caring nature, Inga pursued a career in healthcare, earning her CNA certificate and dedicating over 25 years to roles at Palos Hospital and the PLOWS organization in Illinois. She married Charles R. “Chuck” Shaults in 1986, and they shared a loving marriage of over 38 years, both passing away within days of each other.

Inga is survived by her children Linda (Daniel) Kwak and Paul Howaniec; grandchildren Desiree (Ralph) Jones, Phillip and David Kwak, and Steven Howaniec; and great-grandchildren Ralph, Zachary, and Estelle Jones, and Jameson and Savannah Kwak. Inga was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck, who passed away three days before her on February 15, 2025.

A private Mass will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Chuck and Inga to a charity of choice.
