John A. Hoese, 79, of St. John, IN, formerly of South Holland, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025. He was the loving husband of Karen V. Hoese, nee White, and devoted father of Jeffrey Hoese and Kristin (Patrick) Killeen. John was the proud papa of Tristan (Bianca) Hoese, Joshua, Jacob, Jackson, and Jordan Killeen. He was also the dear brother of Sandra (late Bob) Frigo, Thomas (Jill) Hoese, and the late Dick, Robert, and James Hoese. John is survived by his brother-in-law Ronald (Cathy) White, sister-in-law Cheryl (Ernie) Graff, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Catherine Hoese, John will be deeply missed by his family and many dear friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home in Dyer, IN, with Deacon Jim Renwick officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crown Point, IN.
