Orland Park - Dr. David Savickas, aged 84, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025. Born in Chicago, Illinois on November 9, 1940, Dr. David F. Savickas was a distinguished professor of physics, having graduated from De La Salle, St Mary University, and earning his PHD from Michigan State University. He dedicated 50 years to teaching at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA, and the University of Western New England University. Dr. Savickas held a profound passion for classical music, art from the renaissance and impressionist eras, and a love for physics, particularly the Theory of Relativity, publishing several papers on the subject. He was the son of Frank and Elizabeth Savickas, and brother of James Joseph Savickas, and uncle to Michael L. Savickas, Tracy Rumchak, Theresa Cullen, and Daniel Savickas.Visitation and a prayer service for Dr. David Savickas will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Orland Funeral Home, followed by burial at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Chicago.
