The Du Quoin State Fair has announced that David Lee Roth will perform at the event on Saturday, August 23. Roth, known as the frontman of Van Halen and a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, is recognized for his significant contributions to rock music with hits such as "Jump," "Panama," "Hot for Teacher," and "Runnin' with the Devil." Van Halen sold over 80 million records globally, solidifying their impact on the rock genre.
Illinois Department of Agriculture Director Jerry Costello II expressed excitement about Roth's performance: "Bringing a legend like David Lee Roth to the Du Quoin State Fair is a major win for our fairgoers and for Southern Illinois. He's a rock powerhouse, and his music has spanned generations. This show is going to be something special."
Roth's solo career also highlighted his unique style and energy, earning him a place in rock history beyond his work with Van Halen. Du Quoin State Fair Manager Luke Davison remarked on Roth's influence: "David Lee Roth is more than a rock star—he's a trailblazer in rock music. Whether you grew up blasting Van Halen or discovered his music on a classic rock playlist, this is the kind of act that gets everyone excited. We can't wait to welcome him to Du Quoin."
