The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), an organization representing small businesses in Illinois, issued a statement following the passage of Senate Bill 1976 by the Illinois Senate. The bill mandates that state agencies incorporate rolled-back federal workplace regulations into Illinois' administrative code.

According to NFIB, this legislative move will impose more bureaucratic challenges on small businesses across the state. "SB 1976 will put an additional layer of red tape on Illinois small businesses," said Noah Finley, NFIB Illinois State Director. He further emphasized the need for regulatory relief: "Illinois small businesses need regulatory relief, not more red tape. Illinois must find ways to make running a business in Illinois easier, not harder."

The concerns center around increased costs and legal uncertainties that could arise from these changes for local entrepreneurs and business owners.
