Gladys M. Meyer, 82, of Rockville Township, Manteno, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Citadel Care Center in Kankakee, Illinois. Meyer, born on June 21, 1942, in Joliet, Illinois, was the daughter of Laverne and Alice Lovell. She married John Meyer, Jr. on June 16, 1963, at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Wilton Center, and they raised their family in Wilton Township before later moving to Rockville Township.

Meyer worked as a primary school teacher in the Manteno School District before becoming a stay-at-home mother for her two sons. She was an active member of Saint Patrick Church, involved in various church activities. Meyer enjoyed gardening, reading, watching Westerns, and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband, John Meyer, Jr.; sons, Donald and David Meyer; granddaughter, Allyson Meyer; and several cousins. Meyer was preceded in death by her parents and her aunt, Loretta Long.

Visitation will be held at Baskerville Funeral Home in Wilmington on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by funeral services at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Wilton Center on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Sebastian Gargol will preside over the Mass of Christian Burial, and Meyer will be laid to rest in Mount Saint Patrick Cemetery in Wilton Center.

Memorial contributions in Meyer's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Reeves, Fruland and Baskerville Funeral Homes and Crematory.
