William D. "Bill" Button, a lifelong resident of Morris, known as a pillar of the community, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, at the age of 82. The beloved husband of Carol Button, devoted father, and proud grandfather and great-grandfather will be deeply missed. Bill, a dedicated law enforcement professional, also made significant contributions to Grundy County as Sheriff and through his work with the Morris Police Department. His love for Morris was evident in his involvement in local sports and education, serving as a coach and a member of the Morris High School Board of Education. Bill's passion for life extended to his hobbies, interests in sports teams, music, cooking, and gardening. A visitation and a celebration of Bill's life will take place on June 18, 2025, in Morris. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lightways Hospice. Bill's legacy of commitment to his community and zest for life will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
