Leon Kozlowski Remembered for his Dedication to Family and Love of Life

Leon Kozlowski, born on November 21, 1936, in Janow Lubelski, Poland, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at Burgess Square in Westmont, Illinois. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Kozlowski and a loving father to Dorothy, Daniel, and the late Joanne. Leon was also a cherished twin brother of Helena Rabinska and brother to the deceased Piotr, Mieczysław, Jan, Marian, and Stanislaw. His grandchildren, Matthew, Monika, Lucas, and Jack, will remember him for his playful spirit and loving attention.

Leon served in the Polish Air Force as an airplane mechanic and later established himself as a skilled machinist in Chicago, valuing precision and forming lifelong friendships with his coworkers. An avid fisherman and gardener, he found joy in nature and shared his culinary talents by making homemade Polish sausage and dill pickles, gifts that reflected his heritage and love.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium in Justice, Illinois. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, with prayers and a procession to Saint Gerald Church in Oak Lawn for a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice.

Leon's legacy of dedication to family and zest for life will continue to inspire those who knew him. Rest in peace, Leon, your journey was well-traveled, and your memory will live on in the hearts of many.
