After 12 years of legal proceedings, a settlement has been reached involving Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) plans. The agreement, amounting to $2.8 billion, is the result of a class-action lawsuit filed in 2013. The lawsuit alleged anti-competitive practices that limited competition and restricted providers' ability to set prices.
Healthcare professionals may be eligible for compensation due to suppressed reimbursement rates but must file a claim to receive it. An instructional webinar will guide doctors on how to submit these claims electronically.
The deadline for filing a claim is July 29, 2025. Two webinars are scheduled for healthcare professionals: one today from 11 a.m. to noon (CT) and another on Friday, July 25, at the same time.
For more details about the BCBS antitrust settlement, individuals can refer to "File a Claim by July 29 Deadline for Your Share of BCBS Antitrust Settlement Fund!" published in ISMS’ Physician Advocate.
