Michael J. Ganster Sr. | O'Neil Funeral Home And Heritage Crematory - Lockport

Michael J. Ganster Sr., aged 88, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Born in Chicago to Francis E. and Anna (Novak) Ganster, Mike established his roots in Lockport during his youth. His career included a distinguished tenure at Andrew Corporation, with additional accomplishments in farming, volunteering, and antique car restoration. Mike was known for his love of landscaping and antique furniture restoration, as well as his broad knowledge of World War II history. He will be dearly missed for his affable nature, remarkable memory, and storytelling prowess.

Mike was preceded in death by his wife Diana, mother and father, and several siblings. He is survived by his children Patrick, Susan, Michael Jr., Christopher, Gary, and Shelley, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lightways Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation are welcomed.

A memorial visitation is scheduled for Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at O’NEIL FUNERAL HOME in Lockport. A private burial at Plattville Cemetery will be held at a later date. For more information, contact (815) 838-5010 or visit www.oneilfuneralhome.com.
