East Hazel Crest, Crest — Carol J Gasik, nee Manzi, age 81, a longtime resident, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin, godmother, and friend, passed away on July 1, 2025, in Barnes, Wisconsin, while vacationing with loved ones.

Born on November 8, 1943, daughter of Thomas and Anne Manzi, she married Richard Gasik on June 29, 1963, and they raised two sons together who blessed her with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Remembered for her vibrant personality, Carol enjoyed shopping adventures, trips to the casino, evenings playing poker or bunco, and cherished moments with family and friends. Known for her generosity, wit, and bold spirit, some fondly called her the Gambling Grandma, someone who never saw a slot machine she didn't like. She devoted many years to the East Hazel Crest Women’s Auxiliary Club, served as a waitress, chef, and professional grandma.

Carol is survived by her children, Richie (Maureen) and Thomas Sr. (Kristen), her grandchildren, Kelly (TJ), Scott, Kyle, TJ, great-grandchildren Lily and Lainey, siblings, Diane (Bruce) Gaskins, Bobby Manzi, Linda (Rick) LaBue, brother-in-law Joseph (the late Marilyn) Gasik, sister-in-law Virginia (Thomas) Burns. She was a loving cousin, aunt, and friend to many, and also survived by her beloved cat, Snoopy, aka Puss Puss.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard, grandson Trevor, siblings Jeannie (Pete), Patty, and Thomas.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Tews-Ryan Funeral Home, 18230 Dixie Highway, Homewood, IL, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow. For more information, please visit tews-ryanfh.com or call 708-798-5300.
