Lemont, IL - Kathleen "Kathy" Meyer, of Lemont, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, shortly after her 82nd birthday. Kathy is survived by her son Keith Benson (Jody), her 8 grandchildren James, Brooke, Ryan, Christian, Chad, Caleb, Micaelyn, and Caiden, as well as 3 great-grandchildren - Reed, Nova, and Everest "Evie". She was preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Meyer, her loving son Christopher "Chris" Benson, and her brother Charles "Chuck" Nichols.

Born in Romeoville, Kathy called Morris home before settling and raising her family in Lemont. She took pride in her work at The Shopper newspaper and Apollo Steakhouse, where she met her beloved husband, Bill. Often characterized by her infectious laughter, Kathy's nickname "Kathy who" stemmed from the lighthearted banter between her and Bill.

Kathy embraced life with fervor. Gardening was her solace, and she found joy in collecting seashells on beaches like Sanibel Island. Her home reflected her passion for lighthouses gathered during her travels with Bill. Known for spoiling her grandchildren and dogs with love and treats, Kathy was recognized for her endless generosity and radiant smile that illuminated every room she entered. Her light and love left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

A visitation will take place from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Markiewicz Funeral Home, P.C., located at 108 E. Illinois St, Lemont, IL. A private funeral service for immediate family will be held on Tuesday morning.
