Vincent Shilney | Vandenberg Funeral Home - Tinley Park

Vincent Shilney, aged 97, passed away on August 20, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was a proud United States Navy veteran, actively engaged in honoring fellow veterans and supporting his community throughout his life.

Vincent served his country with pride, a member of the American Legion in Tinley Park, and a participant in the 2014 Honor Flight. Known for his hardworking spirit, he had a longstanding career as a Union Truck Driver before retirement. Even after retirement, Vincent continued working in maintenance at the Tinley Park housing development, served as a Tinley Park Auxiliary Police Officer, and remained active well into his late 80s.

Survived by his children Barbara, Janet, and Michael, Vincent was a devoted grandfather to John, Matthew, Curtis, Michael, Robert, and Joseph, and a beloved great-grandfather to Alexis, Alayna, and Gia. His sister, Carol Matthews, also survives him.

Vincent was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Anna Shilney, and his siblings Mary, Virginia, Edward, Richard, and Robert.

A Visitation will be hosted at Vandenberg Funeral Home in Tinley Park on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Chapel service at 12:30 p.m. Burial with military honors is scheduled at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
