President Trump has referred to Governor J.B. Pritzker as a "slob of a governor" while considering the deployment of federal forces to Chicago in an effort to address crime.

"This slob of a Governor you have in Illinois. Got thrown out of his business by his family," said Donald J. Trump.

According to Fox News, the White House has intensified its dispute with Illinois Democrats, accusing Governor Pritzker and other leaders of prioritizing criticism of President Donald Trump over addressing crime within their state. White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said that Chicago's leaders were neglecting residents' safety. During a Cabinet meeting, Trump reiterated his willingness to intervene in Chicago, describing it as being "in big trouble." Pritzker, alongside Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, Mayor Brandon Johnson, and Attorney General Kwame Raoul, criticized Trump as a "wannabe dictator" threatening to use federal authority against an American city.

The White House responded by releasing crime statistics indicating that Chicago has recorded more murders than any other U.S. city over the past 13 years and has the highest number of illegal gun recoveries. This standoff occurs as Trump expands a comprehensive crime crackdown already underway in Washington, D.C., where over 2,200 National Guard troops have been deployed.

Donald J. Trump was elected the 45th president in 2016 and the 47th president in 2024. He is known as a business owner, entertainer, and real estate developer from Queens, New York. According to his biography on TrumpLibrary.gov, he attended the New York Military Academy and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
