Genevieve "Jean" Carpenter, 101, Remembered for Devotion to Family and Community

Genevieve "Jean" Carpenter, 101, peacefully passed away on August 23, 2025. Preceded in death by husband Lowell and son Patrick. Survived by children Henry, Mary, and Alida. Loving grandmother to Matthew, Allison, Jason, Martin, and Julianne, with 6 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Graduating from Mount Carmel High School, Genevieve was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, IL, where she mentored Polish refugees and played various card games. She retired from the Illinois Secretary of State Office.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 28th, at 11 a.m. at Franciscan Village Chapel in Lemont. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry can be made at www.svdpstann.org.
