A federal grand jury has indicted a Rockford resident, Alex Reinhard LeDoux, on charges related to child pornography. According to the indictment issued in U.S. District Court in Rockford, LeDoux, 34, is accused of receiving, transporting, and possessing child pornography in 2023.
The charges for receiving and transporting child pornography each carry a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and a maximum of 20 years in prison. The possession charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years.
The announcement was made by Andrew S. Boutros, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, and Douglas S. DePodesta, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Field Office of the FBI. The Rockford Police Department assisted with the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan S. Kim is representing the government in this case.
Authorities emphasized that an indictment is not evidence of guilt and that "the defendant is presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt."
This prosecution falls under Project Safe Childhood (PSC), a national initiative aimed at addressing child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating efforts among federal, state, and local agencies to locate and prosecute offenders while supporting victims.
Victims or those who suspect sexual exploitation are encouraged to contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children through its website at www.missingkids.com or by calling 1-800-843-5678; assistance is available around the clock.
