NFIB Illinois has joined other members of Chicago’s business community in voicing opposition to the proposed “Heat-Related Illness Prevention in Outdoor Places of Employment Ordinance.” The organization signed a coalition letter expressing concerns about the ordinance, which recently passed the Workforce Development Committee of the Chicago City Council on September 25.

The coalition’s letter points out several issues with the proposal. These include what they describe as regulatory overreach and additional red tape, potential exposure to lawsuits that could be costly and without merit, special exemptions for certain groups, and expensive fines and penalties.

The full text of the coalition letter can be read online.
