The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) is marking National Veterans & Military Families Month by promoting licensing resources for active service members, their spouses, and veterans who have left active duty within the past two years. The department aims to help these individuals quickly obtain professional licenses needed to work in Illinois.
“As we observe National Veterans & Military Families Month, we honor the immense sacrifices made by service members and their families,” said IDFPR Secretary Mario Treto, Jr. “It is our duty to facilitate their journey and empower these dedicated individuals, and IDFPR remains committed to providing the necessary resources and support to ensure they can seamlessly transition into their professional careers in Illinois.”
The department has a Military Liaison who works with applicants and military installation support centers during the licensing process. This liaison answers questions about licensure for eligible applicants. Since the program began in 2020, the number of applicants assisted has grown from 390 in its first year to 1,179 in 2024. State law requires that qualifying applications are reviewed within 30 days once all documents and fees are received.
Information on how service members and their spouses can get licensing assistance, including contact details for the Military Liaison, is available on the IDFPR website at https://idfpr.illinois.gov/military.html.
IDFPR is responsible for regulating over 1.2 million professionals across more than 120 industries in Illinois. More details about recent departmental accomplishments can be found on its Hub webpage.
