The Illinois Department of Insurance (DOI) is sharing its health insurance analysis to help Illinois consumers make health insurance marketplace decisions during the 2018 open enrollment period, according to a press release.
2018 premium rates have increased for consumers across the country, though Illinois' were generally lower in 2018 than 2017, the release said.
“There is no question that major structural flaws in the ACA (Affordable Care Act) have forced higher insurance rates and separated families from trusted physicians and hospitals,” DOI Director Jennifer Hammer said in the release. “The ACA remains the law of the land. We will continue ensure compliance with the ACA, as we’ve done since its implementation. Our mission at DOI is to protect consumers as well as foster a robust insurance marketplace.”
Illinois consumers from each county will be able to purchase health insurance from the marketplace for the six-week period starting Nov. 1, 2017.
