The Illinois Republican Party is asking when two Democratic gubernatorial candidates will release their tax returns after they pledged to do so.
A day after a Democratic candidate forum in Aurora, the GOP released a statement saying even fellow Democrats are critical of Chris Kennedy and J.B. Pritzker, who said five months ago that they would give out six years' worth of returns.
Fellow candidate Sen. Daniel Biss (D-Evanston) has challenged Pritzker and Kennedy on their return pledges by putting online a running counter of the number of days, hours, minutes and seconds they have yet to make their returns public since making their pledges.

The tax-return issue has received media attention as well. The Illinois GOP published a tweet from Mary Ann Ahern, a reporter with NBC 5 Chicago, saying, "@JBPritzker has been saying 'soon' for months, same for @KennedyforIL #AboutTime.”
“While the Democrats debate who comes from a wealthier family and dodge on releasing their tax returns, they continue to prove that the Democratic gubernatorial primary is a race to the bottom,” the news release said.
