The Illinois Republican Party recently slammed Democratic gubernatorial candidate J.B. Pritzker for his failure release his tax returns, with a release stoking outrage in the wake of a property tax scandal and the recent implication of his sister in the Paradise Papers.
According to the Illinois GOP, J.B. Pritzker received a property tax break of more than $230,000 on a Chicago mansion that he owns. The party also highlighted recent reports that Penny Pritzker, J.B. Pritzker’s sister and former secretary of Commerce, shifted assets she was meant to divest into trust funds for her children, according to a Chicago Tribune report.
"While his sister was just caught parking assets offshore, J.B. Pritzker continues to hide his tax returns from the public,” Illinois Republican Party Spokesman Aaron DeGroot said in the release. “We already know he schemed with crooked Democrat insiders to slash the property tax bill on his Chicago mansion by over $230,000. It's time for him to come clean."
