John W. Hollman, executive clerk of the Illinois House of Representatives, will be chief clerk for the remainder of the 100th General Assembly. His appointment was approved Nov. 13..
Barbara Flynn Currie (D-Chicago), who sponsored the bill to approve Hollman, said before the vote, "John has spent pretty much his entire adult life working for the Illinois legislature," having started his work with the Illinois Legislature in 2003 as a legislative staff intern.
"He went to the clerk's office six years ago, and I think he is eminently qualified," Currie said. "You all know him and I hope you will join me and vote for the accession to of John Hollman to the chief clerk of the Illinois House."
The House voted 111 in favor; zero voted no. Seven members were absent.
Hollman has been acting clerk for the past several months.
